As a global multi-disciplinary consultancy The Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T) Division within Atkins is at the leading edge of digital Asset Management (dAM) and is currently recruiting for a Senior/Principal (Air) Asset Management Consultant. Atkins offers a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients.

‘Atkins is a member of the Aurora Engineering Partnership which, subject to contract, will support the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) transformation strategy as the Engineering Delivery Partner’.

We are strengthening the Asset Management consulting team within ADS&T to meet increasing market demand for advisory Strategic Asset Management, Digital and Asset Performance Management services. These services include business operations, strategy, people management, change management, accounting/finance, risk management and information systems all coordinated to realise maximum value from physical assets

The successful candidate will provide thought leadership in data driven analysis of client asset management objectives through data analytics and a range of digital asset management systems to develop and define client objectives at an operationally strategic level. In some cases, the successful candidate will work with clients to develop, design, procure and implement a digital asset management system for the client.

The role requires the successful candidate to work both independently and provide leadership and direction to the Asset Management Capability, developing and delivering asset management solutions for both simple and complex equipment and at the enterprise level. The role is technically and personally challenging, whilst being incredibly rewarding. The role requires the successful candidate to work under their own guidance, manage project teams and interact with customers and key stakeholders at a high level.


Overview / Responsibilities

Successful candidate will be required to travel regionally and nationally as per role and project needs.

Prime responsibilities for the role are:

• Ability to determine and establish from 1st principles the development of Asset Management solutions at an enterprise and system level, whilst providing Technical Assurance across the Asset Management discipline
• Application of whole life cost principles, utilising Atkins’ digital asset management systems. Define, track, analyse and verify client unit cost data.
• Management of asset creation/acquisition/disposal methodologies for clients.
• Identify, measure and evaluate asset related risks and potential disruptions to critical asset management activities.
• Develop, maintain and communicate asset management plan(s) and specific asset policies. Measure effectiveness of plans, implementing adjustments where required.

Skills / Qualifications

Technical Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Accomplished and proven Practitioner within Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Reliability & Maintainability (R&M).
• Knowledge of principles and methods of strategic management and business planning.
• Ability in determining procurement strategies applicable to the acquisition or creation of assets including management of materials, logistics and supply chains.
• Ability to use relevant software programs to determine deterioration of assets, impact on integrated system effectiveness and techniques for cost and performance analysis.
• Ability to engage and influence at all levels of stakeholder, both internally and externally.
• Able to establish clear client requirements, communicating plans effectively back to clients.
• Record of accomplishment in the development of Asset Management solutions at enterprise, platform and at system level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the role, including the preparation and presentation of reports to both internal and external customers.
• Built sustainable relationships with customers and developed future business opportunities, influencing and managing these through to new work.

Desirable
• Knowledge of principles and methods of strategic management and business planning across multiple domains.
• Ability to deal well with ambiguity and new content in a very broad range of situations.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and contribute with a problem-solving, investigative and innovative skillset.
• Experience of working directly with clients to provide advice and guidance on investment decisions.
• Relevant knowledge of national and international legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Chartered engineer or equivalent, or working towards it.
• Knowledge and experience of working in wider markets, with experience of consultancy selling to external clients
• Knowledge of the Defence and Aerospace markets and wider markets.
• Chartered engineer or equivalent, or working towards it.;
• Experience of consultancy selling and the ability to sell the capability to external clients
• Experienced in Bid management.
• Membership of UK, EU or US societies/working groups, etc.,
• Familiarisation of Def-Standards, including 00-600 and DLF.
• Production of articles, papers or conference presentations within their discipline.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
