We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist (Offshore) – London, Epsom, Glasgow, Bristol to join our Ground Engineering team working in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

We need to increase our resources to meet the growing demands from our clients, especially in the energy sector, including renewable energy (predominantly offshore wind), offshore and onshore oil & gas and nuclear power.

Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our infrastructure and energy Gotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.

Responsibilities
The applicant will be required to carry out and check-review the geotechnical design of foundations for offshore and onshore structures including windfarms and oil and gas facilities. They will be required to lead packages of work and liaise directly with the client and other engineering disciplines. They will also be required to design and specify ground investigations for energy and infrastructure projects, be able to interpret the results from the investigations and to calculate the relevant geotechnical parameters. The applicant should be keen to drive innovation and technical development in the offshore sector.

Requirements
Applicant to be a Geotechnical Engineer with a proven technical, commercial and project management track record. Excellent technical skills are required relevant to our work in the energy and infrastructure sectors.


The applicant will require:

  • A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent)
  • Chartered status or experience to meet the responsibilities outlined above
  • Experience working as a geotechnical engineer in the offshore energy industry, with experience working with software such as ALP, TZPile, OPile, GRLWeap etc. Able to check and review work to ensure quality is ensured
  • Finite element analysis and coding experience is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • A flair for innovation and a drive for technical development
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas
  • A driving licence is preferable
  • Valid BOSIET and UKOG medical certification, and experience in and a keenness to work offshore on geotechnical survey ships would be beneficial.
