Key Responsibilities

The product specialist role encompasses the following key responsibilities:

• Working with product owners/managers and software development teams to create new and innovative digital engineering products and solutions based on the Autodesk suite of products (principally Revit and Civil 3D)

• Developing the IT systems and processes to manage and distribute these bespoke solutions (Revit and AutoCAD plugins, etc) to Atkins’ design teams

• Working with Autodesk and its partners to solve technical issues (incidents and problems) related to developing, supporting and maintaining new and existing solutions

• Undertaking product UAT testing before IT deployment and business implementation in support of the Product Manager

• Working with the infrastructure teams who will provision the underlying IT platforms and infrastructure, e.g.  servers and virtualisation

• Providing Level 3 support for new and existing products (bespoke Revit solutions) well as working with IT desk-side support teams to ensure that robust L1 and L2 support is in place

• Helping the design team to embed the new products and solutions into the design practices

• Adhering to Atkins’ product management methodology and governance procedure.

To succeed in this role:

• You will need to be an innovator with a profound interest in advancing the field of digital engineering within Atkins to be marked out as a candidate for this role

• You must have a good appreciation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and workflows automation within a design and engineering environment

• You must be willing to follow Atkins product management methodologies and software developments processes and practice.



 

Experience Required

Essential

• A deep understanding and hands-on experience of developing software solutions based on the Revit API is central to this role

• An ability to help support Revit Server with Clarity is important in the early stage of the role. However, this will be less of a focus in the longer term

• A good understanding of the wider Autodesk product set (e.g. Navis Works and Forge) is important in terms of adding values to the digital engineering agenda in Atkins 

• Hands-on software development experience in C#, JavaScript and SQL is also central. As a product specialist in this role, you will be required to develop software products and solutions based on Autodesk’s APIs, such as, for example, the Revit API

• A good understanding of IT platforms and infrastructure, both in terms of on-premise and cloud-based solution is needed to fulfil this role

• Experience of working within an agile software development environment using both Scrum and Kanban, including estimating the effort needed to develop new features is important

• Experience of working with the support teams within Autodesk and its partners (e.g. IMAGINiT) is a very important element of this role

• Experience of parametric design and workflow automation related to Building Information Modelling (BIM) within a design and engineering environment is important

• Experience of working within a DevOps environment - working with Atkins IT operations to deploy, release and distribute IT solutions is an imperative for this role

• Experience of the software system testing within a software quality assurance context is a very important factor for this role

• Experience of providing Level 3 support and collaborating within desk-side support is an imperative

• An ability and experience of working within multidiscipline and globally located teams is necessary for this role.

 Desirable

• Experience of developing Autodesk Forge applications

• Experience of developing Dynamo scripts

• Python development experience

• Experience of ServiceNow.
