Our Nuclear and Power business has been operating for over four decades in the UK, previously as part of the recently acquired Atkins Group. Due to the continual expansion in our workload in the nuclear New Build sector we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager or a delivery focused engineering consultancy services Project Director to help lead, develop and deliver our engineering projects and related project management capability from our Epsom office.

The Role
Reporting to the Nuclear New Build Projects Group Lead, you will manage projects and also be responsible for the development of a local team of project and task managers in our Epsom office. The role will involve two main aspects:
1) Working with our operation and group leads to deliver an outstanding, Epsom based, project management capability, ensuring that the work undertaken by our Nuclear and Power New Build consultancy business at this location is appropriately bid, delivered and continually improved. You will be responsible for a small and growing team of project managers and acting as the local lead on project management and assisting the development of framework task managers in our engineering teams. This element will take up 30% of your time.

2) In addition, through directly working on our projects either as a Senior Project Manager or Project Director, you will be responsible for the delivery of a range of our consultancy projects. You will also help build relationships with our clients both in the UK and overseas, working closely with our market leads and other key stakeholders to identify and deliver an evolving portfolio of work with our key clients.



The Person
You will be an excellent communicator, astute commercially and happy to build relationships with both colleagues and clients. You’ll be comfortable with managing change, keen to take the initiative to develop new ways of working and driving delivery. You’ll be a team player who enjoys engaging with others at all levels, supporting numerous stakeholders, but equally happy to take the initiative to solve problems.

You will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Experience with responsibility in delivering engineering consultancy services bring currently at the mid to senior level. This should include project or engineering management experience in areas such as development consent, licensing, engineering analysis and design, construction and decommissioning.
• Experience in the nuclear or similar safety critical engineering sectors is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership and people skills. Ability to excel at line management and leading and directing local and geographically disparate teams and resources.
• Commercial and risk management experience in the management of professional services and engineering projects.
• Educated to degree level with project management qualifications (APM or equivalent).
• Chartership of a recognised professional body or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel for short or limited medium term as business requires.
• Any level of fluency in foreign languages such as Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, French or German are advantageous but not essential.
