Atkins Transportation Division covers all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. Atkins is one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary consultancies engaged in numerous high profile projects for Clients in both the Public and Private Sector.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Project Managers to join our Project delivery practice delivering Multi Million pound major infrastructure projects. The roles will include managing experienced design and delivery teams within our Transportation division. High Speed 2 is a high-speed railway line connecting the major cities in the UK, The railway is being delivered in two phases. The role of Senior Project Manager is to actively lead the delivery teams for HS2 and manage the key HS2 client account. The role will primarily be based in Birmingham.

Our Project Delivery practice within our Transportation division provides support and guidance to the whole of Transportation in project management, project controls and quality and technical assurance. Project Delivery leads on our portfolio of major projects within both Strategic Rail & Highways. This includes functional leadership and standards for how we govern our projects.

Requirements
We are seeking a candidate able to demonstrate a high level of project management capability, who can ensure delivery to time and budget on large and complex design projects. You will be a manager with a proven track record in the UK infrastructure engineering sector and experience of managing large scale design and engineering programmes demonstrating proven abilities to manage multiple stakeholders. The appointed candidate will have a track record of successful delivery on a wide portfolio of significant engineering design projects. Experience of managing construction programmes and administering construction contracts would be advantageous. We are looking for candidates with experience of delivering high complex Major Projects and we would welcome applications from high achievers from sectors such as Rail/Transportation, Construction, Petrochemical, Nuclear, Automotive or similar with the right skillset.

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
• Extensive project management experience at a senior level with a proven track record in delivering highly complex major engineering/construction projects in a timely and safe manner.
• Well developed leadership, communication, negotiating, influencing and inter-personal skills, with the drive and commitment to achieve project objectives.
• Commitment to provide inspirational safety leadership and ability to deliver high standards on health and safety.
• Proven track record in establishing and building relationships with suppliers, client/contractors and internal stakeholders.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
