The Team

Within our Engineering and Consulting (E&C) UK & Europe business, the Esbjerg operation is an important part of the link into the Danish offshore sector and clients, and an important part of growth and diversification plans within mainland Europe.  The team is currently a multi-discipline team supporting Oil & Gas and Wind Energy clients in engineering consultancy, modifications and upgrades.  The Esbjerg operation also acts as a conduit for specialist work that is carried out by other parts of the energy business, and draws in resources from this wider business to execute work locally.

Our multidisciplinary team carries out many projects that involve interaction across disciplines and there are great opportunities to interact with the rest of the E&C business in the UK and across the globe. The global team comprises vast experience in structural engineering, where we have been involved with the design, assessment and modification of over 1000 oil and gas installations, full design of 14 windfarm substations and 200 wind-turbine foundations around the world. We are the operator’s ‘go to’ company for difficult challenges from life extension to innovative new design.

The Role

As we make progress with our Energy mission to make a difference by improving lives through safer, cleaner, smarter energy we are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Structural engineer. As part of our structural team there will be great opportunities to develop technical skills and supervision capabilities in the offshore industries and to be involved in delivering successful projects to our clients, where we are striving to meet the constantly evolving needs of the energy sector.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead the technical delivery of structural projects and work packages and you will coach junior engineers. You will also present your work to clients through reports and presentations.

The Person

You will have the drive to be responsible for the technical delivery of structural scope, on time, within budget and in compliance with Atkins quality system.  You will be able to build and develop relationships internally and externally, through good verbal and written communication.  You will be pro-active and oriented to problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will be excited to be involved in:

• Team-work, within multi-discipline international projects, liaising with Project Managers, engineers and draftsmen.

The following is mandatory:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Naval Engineering.
• At least eight years of experience as structural engineer in offshore Oil &Gas or Wind Energy, encompassing detailed design and advanced analyses.
• Practical experience with an offshore structural software package (e.g. SACS, SESAM, STAAD).

The following is also desirable:

• Proven capability of supervising teams of professional staff, including developing/mentoring junior engineers.
• Previous experience in providing input to Project Managers for scope definition and execution.
