Atkins has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years.


Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Orlando, FL office as a Senior Tolls Analyst.  

 

Major Function/Role

  • Under direction, applies technical professional competency in Toll Systems, Toll Operations and relevant Toll related Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technology to the investigation of transportation planning, engineering and operational needs and problems, the coordination of Toll project activities, and the preparation of preliminary plans and documents.
  • Major results expected include high-quality written, verbal, and graphical deliverables in the form of operational concepts, technology reviews, designs, and specifications.

 

Job Duties

  • Carries out job functions within small, project-oriented, multidisciplinary teams of Toll professionals and supports direct interaction with clients within the context of project progress meetings, design reviews, operations, project production, testing and delivery.
  • Conducts assignments that have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a defined number of variables.
  • Duties usually include the following:
  • Applies general Toll planning, operational, and engineering principles to solve specific Toll-related problems.
  • Collaborates in the design and development of Toll concepts, including requirements analysis, technology review and selection, operational concepts development and communication, specification development, testing, and system commissioning.
  • Develops preliminary concepts and/or specifications.
  • Researches feasibility of alternative approaches, technology capabilities, previous Toll system deployments, cost benefits, and client/regulatory agency specifications.
  • Writes reports, participation in presentations, discusses concepts and deliverables with clients, and participates in quality-control checks.
  • May lead small project-specific teams.
  • Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

 



Education and Experience

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a Toll related subject such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Planning, Accounting, Economics, Business, Law, or Information Technology, plus four years relevant experience providing exposure to information and communication technologies and/or toll operations, including fiberoptic communication design, video systems, toll collection systems and sub-systems, toll infrastructure, electronic payment, or traffic management.
  • Toll related Master's degree/MBA can substitute for one year of experience.

 

 

Special Skills

  • Strong technical writing and communications skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is required.

 

 

Professional Registrations

  • Professional registration or ability to become registered within six (6) months is highly desirable, but not required.

 

 

Additional Requirements

  • Relevant work experience providing exposure to computer hardware, software, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is a plus.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required in information and communication technologies and/or toll operations, including computer hardware, software, fiberoptic communication design, video systems, toll collection systems and sub-systems, toll infrastructure, electronic payment, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), or traffic management.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for periodic field assignments, primarily related to system development oversight and testing.
