Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Tallahassee Transportation NEPA Group as a Senior Transportation / PD&E Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:

This individual will work as an embedded employee within the Florida Department of Transportation within their Office of Environmental Management (OEM). In this role they will work as an extension of the OEM staff reviewing, performing, updating, and implementing transportation engineering analyses that support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and other technical reports for Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies. This individual will be responsible reviewing technical studies documenting impact analyses such as contamination, floodplain, water quality, stormwater, and utilities.

JOB DUTIES:

Performs work that involves preliminary engineering and environmental review in accordance with the FDOT PD&E manual. Technical content review of environmental documents and support documents for major and complex roadway projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with four years' experience since B.S.; three years experience since M.S. Incumbents typically have six to ten years' experience since Bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Excellent technical writing, verbal communications, and interpersonal skills are required. A thorough understanding of NEPA and FDOT project development process is required.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:

Florida P.E. license or ability to obtain Florida P.E. license is required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working within the preparation and/or reviewing of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and associated technical report as well as existing knowledge of traffic analysis and/or environmental analysis is a plus.
