The Atkins Drainage Group seeks an energetic, highly motivated and detail oriented candidate to join our Tampa, FL Drainage Group as a Senior Drainage Engineer.

The candidate's primary role within the group is to provide drainage design services for roadway projects for primary FDOT District One and Seven and provide drainage design support for counties and municipalities projects. In addition, the candidate will serve as a drainage engineer of record, participate in proposals and mentor junior engineers.


JOB DUTIES

Serve as the Engineer of Record and/or design engineer on transportation drainage and water-orientated projects which includes the preparation of calculations, plans, reports, and flooding studies.

Experience with FDOT drainage design criteria for RRR, capacity and design build projects which may include the following designs: open and closed storm drain design, wet and dry stormwater management facilities, pond siting analysis, base clearance analysis, nutrient loading analysis, and bridge hydraulic analysis.

Similar drainage experience with City and County clients is desirable but not required.

Strong ability to organize and manage a drainage design team, project schedules and maintain project budgets.

Coordinates work with project manager, multidisciplinary design groups and guides junior engineers, designers and CADD technicians on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.

Good technical writing and communication skills.

Provide assistance and/or serves as drainage lead for technical presentations or oral proposals.

Responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.




EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

At least 8+ years of drainage design work experience with FDOT projects.

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from a 4-year accredited University. M.S. in Civil Engineering is a plus.


SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must be proficient in Microstation, GEOPAK Drainage or ASAD, ICPR, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in 3D corridor modeling is a plus.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

P.E. license is required.
