Our investment in improving transport technologies will change how we will make journeys in the future, and we are playing lead roles in shaping the industry through projects such as high speed rail, intelligent transport systems and the Venturer driverless car project. Our team need to look at challenges very differently to connect people and places in exciting new ways, and this requires a huge variety of skills and capabilities, including specialists in connected and autonomous technologies, traffic signalling, cyber security, human factors, mobility as a service, big data and more. The Company

The creation of a new transportation division in Atkins brings together the capabilities of our Highway and Rail teams into a single business of 3,000 talented engineers and professionals. The UK transport sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and Atkins is playing lead roles in a diverse range of projects such as high-speed rail, intelligent transport systems and the Venturer driverless car project. The Role

Atkins is currently leading on a variety of Smart Ticketing and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) projects. We require additional Smart Ticketing experience to expand Smart Ticketing capability and support our clients on a diverse range of projects, looking at the delivery/upgrade of Smart and Mobile Ticketing infrastructure (front office and back office) as well as the customer proposition.

This role presents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team, to play a leading role in building and executing our plan for the future. You will be involved in the development of our Smart Ticketing and MaaS Strategy and proposition development managing new areas of technology for the business through technical excellence and high quality project delivery.

It will necessitate ambition, creativity, technical knowledge and excellent project delivery experience. The role will work collaboratively with business development, market and practice teams as well as project delivery teams, and will report to the Practice Manager.

Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility will include:
• technical delivery in bidding and project delivery
• building a leading presence in the Intelligent Mobility, Smart Ticketing and MaaS ecosystem, establishing strong senior relationships in new and existing markets
• supporting project delivery teams, providing technical knowledge and experience to manage major risks and issues as necessary
• support the development and execution of future growth strategies
• coaching staff on their technical development and promote the technical development career path


Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP:
• demonstrable experience in the delivery of smart ticketing projects
• experience in a range of smart-ticketing applications / products
• ITSO experience (Smart-ticket and allocation / Ticket vending machines / Ticket barrier integration)
• desirable experience in mobile app ticketing and system integration projects
• experience managing a range of suppliers
• familiarity with testing strategy, methodologies and lifecycle
• evidence of technical report production, thought leadership and contributing to published articles
• a track record of technical coaching and/or mentoring
• involvement in research and/or recognition as a technical expert in their field
• desirable previous payments experience in a range of sectors; retail, travel, communications, payments, fin-tech.

WINNING WORK / SALES:
• sales in a client and consultancy market-facing background, preferably within private and public sector
• significant contributions to sales strategy and /or building business in new areas
• experience authoring compelling bids and pitching to clients with a high success rate
• experience of successfully operating within a target-driven environment, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding targets

• existing profile in an area of the IM / Smart Ticketing and Smart City market, with an active technical network
