Our Infrastructure Division supports many of the major infrastructure programmes across the UK and major international projects. Our focus is to deliver effective outcomes by optimising the performance of both new and existing assets. The Infrastructure Asset & Technology Practice is a vital component of this, enabling us to ensure customers' outcomes are realised in the projects we undertake and delivering bespoke sector-specific solutions to optimise asset performance.

AtkinsRéalis provides the opportunity to influence some of the most significant infrastructure programmes in the UK and develop and implement innovative solutions across the sector. 

Our Infrastructure Asset & Technology practice delivers data-driven solutions and asset management, regulatory, and technical advice to a range of clients, both in the UK and internationally. We have an opportunity for a Software Developer to join our team and immediately add value to the clients that we are working with. The location of the role can be based in Birmingham, Warrington, Leeds, London, and Epsom – with hybrid-working supported – with potential home offices including Birmingham, Warrington, Leeds, London, and Epsom.

Your purpose:

As a Software Developer, you'll have all the support you need to succeed. Working in a team that uses contemporary and traditional approaches, you'll examine, assess, and develop ways to increase the value of our client's output for positive real-world outcomes.This may include contributing to bids, developing new business propositions, or researching potential new markets.

We want you to help us grow our business by:

  • Design & develop solutions to optimise automation and workflows within Project Delivery Tools utilised in Infrastructure delivery. 
  • Create and maintain the solution's robustness, scalability and user-friendliness to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of decision-making in Infrastructure projects. 
  • Collaborate closely with project teams and clients to develop their digital engineering needs and requirements by understanding design codes and standards used to create design automation methodologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering discipline SMEs utilising the parametric or generative capability to embed design rules or manipulate design models. 
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and troubleshooting of technical issues, providing effective bug resolutions and solutions support. 
  • Provide support in task management and assignments to programme, budget and quality. 
  • Mentor and guide graduate and junior developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. 
  • Support and maintain good working relationships with project teams and clients in typically client-facing roles. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of digital engineering solutions into project workflows. 
  • Support the production of cost and time estimation for digital engineering solutions and the level of effort required.
  • We are looking to develop our Data & Information Management team and are looking for enthusiastic, client and solution-oriented individuals keen to pursue a role as a Software Developer.

What can you bring?

Ideally, you will have a relevant degree or professional experience in Computer Science or equivalent. You will possess strong object-orientated programming language knowledge and experience, ideally in C#. Equally, you may have gained relevant Solutions Development skills within a complementary but different role, and it would be great, but not essential if you had demonstratable experience working with Project Delivery Tools.

Additionally, you will bring experience in:

Developing solutions in Microsoft Azure platform or equivalent.

Experience in working with Agile delivery frameworks such as SCRUM, SAFe, etc.

Ideally, working with SDKs and frameworks relevant to software development. 

Working with database technologies.

A strong emotional intelligence with the ability to flex your style to suit different stakeholders. 

You'll be confident and self-assured, putting forward your views and, conversing effectively with senior stakeholders and presenting technical solutions to non-technical audiences. 

You will have experience in agile and/or waterfall project delivery.

We offer a competitive salary that is regularly tested against other consultants with a default 25-days leave each year plus bank holidays and options to buy some or sell of that leave. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
