Purpose of the Role:
The primary objective of the Software Portfolio Manager is to maximize the business value of Atkins’ software portfolio while balancing cost and reducing risk.
Leading the initiative to rationalise the entire software portfolio, the Software Portfolio Manager will help control costs with strong governance around software accomplishing the same or similar functions, while developing and enforcing software usage policies, ensuring compliance with various asset management tools.
Meeting the needs of our diverse business, you will require a good understanding of the effective management of software assets and their associated licenses and contracts, delivering metrics to illustrate the business benefits of each application. Working in the Change & Governance function, you will be required to build successful relationships with your peers in Software Asset Management, Finance and Application Delivery as well as key business stakeholders, resellers and publishers.
This person should be business focussed, taking ownership of the entire Atkins Application portfolio to ensure applications are enhanced and maintained to meet business functional need and product maintenance remains current. They should have excellent technical knowledge of enterprise class application lifecycles and an understanding of the wider aspects of application delivery.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, analytical and able to come up with smart solutions within budget constraints.

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities
• Rationalise Atkins’ entire software portfolio
• Manage the operational relationship with the global software reseller to drive significant value
• Partner with software resellers, vendors and business stakeholders to provide application demand forecasting
• Develop and maintain portfolio demand reports to evidence savings achieved.
• Through reseller and vendor engagement, identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing and services
• Partner with Procurement and Asset Management teams on contract negotiation, renewals, vendor management activities, inventory management, purchasing and delivery activities
• Define and deliver process improvement through automation, engaging with Automation TDA
• Responsible for leading new initiatives/projects to capture licence usage/software metering
• Support all renewals to ensure/determine previous and future licence usage
• Understand and promote new software solutions
• Monitor trend reports to support business decisions
• Partner with IT product owners to align activity to product and delivery roadmaps
• Produce metrics to illustrate the business benefits/value of each application in the portfolio
• Lead discussions with key stakeholders to reduce spend on applications not delivering value
• Custodian of all data relating to software in the portfolio, including: age, usage, cost, maintenance and interrelationships with other applications
• Identify overlaps (and gaps) in portfolio
• Build relationships with SNC-Lavalin global counterparts

Experience Required
Essential Technical Requirements
To be successful in this role we would expect you to have demonstarble experience with:
• Overseeing a large software portfolio and lifecycle ownership
• Managing relationships and driving delivery of 3rd party suppliers
• Experience working in an enterprise-class standardised client environment
• Ability to develop and implement full process plans
• Ability to synthesize complex and unstructured data to tell a compelling story to stakeholders and customers
• Reporting and analytical skills
• Excellent influencing skills with a willingness to challenge third parties/publishers
• Proven record of learning quickly and affecting change on an organization
• Proven ability to apply financial insights and draw accurate conclusions from financial and other quantitative information
• Excellent communication, presentation and reasoning skills

Desirable Technical Experiences
• Experience working within an ITIL aligned Service Delivery organization
• Knowledge of engineering and design software products
• Technical knowledge of software packaging process

Behavioural Competencies
• Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements
• Clear and fluent English (both verbal and written)
• Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams, 3rd parties and business stakeholders
• Ownership of and accountability for area of responsibility
• Team player who will lead by example
