SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team in Tampa, FL as a Sr. Highway Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Serves as Project Manager for Planning Development and Environment (PD&E) Studies as a consultant to the Florida Department of Transportation for the Tampa Bay Next Program. Applies engineering knowledge to planning concepts, designs and reports. Coordinates NEPA approval with Central Office’s Office of Environmental Management through the use of SWEPT.

JOB DUTIES
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. 
  • Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices. Coordinates and reviews activities related to contract scope of services development, staff hour estimates, staff hour negotiations, and contract execution by coordinating with the Professional Services Unit. 
  • Oversees and maintains schedule, scope and budget. 
  • Reviews and coordinates invoice approvals. 
  • Coordinates schedules for report submittals, Public Hearings and public involvement activities. 
  • Reviews plans, exhibits and presentations for coordination with stakeholders. 
  • Advises and assists with geometric design, typical section, traffic analysis, right-of-way requirements, identification of design variations and exceptions, cost estimating, and general engineering analysis. 
  • Reviews planning reports for consistency and accuracy, including Preliminary Engineering Report, Type II CE, Type I CE, Reevaluations, and technical reports. 
  • Coordinates report reviews in ERC and final approvals through SWEPT.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills. 
  • Incumbent may be eligible for project management training. 
  • Knowledge of roadway design, traffic engineering, Project Management and public involvement activities for PD&E Studies. 
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, organize, and direct engineering program activities. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • P.E. license is required.
