Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Aviation Group as a Sr. Planner in Houston, TX. Location of position is flexible. Willing to consider multiple locations for the right candidate.



MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:

Under general direction, provides technical expertise to diverse planning projects throughout the assigned area of responsibility and/or company-wide. May function as lead planner, project manager, or technical consultant. Work may involve airport planning, airport engineering support, or environmental projects.


 


 

JOB DUTIES:


 

Work involves planning and developing planning projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on major company programs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning or related field. Master's or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Planners with ten years experience since Bachelor's or nine years since Master's. Typical incumbent has 12-15 years experience. Some public agency experience desirable.



SPECIAL SKILLS:


Strong technical writing and communication skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees. Experience with project management is preferred. Ideal candidate will have led various airport planning projects such as master plans, airport layout plans, alternative studies, noise studies, and environmental assessments. Ability to coordinate public involvement is a plus.



PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:



AICP Certification desired.




ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


This position may include supervising other airport planning staff. Experience as a personnel supervisor is a plus.
