Due to business expansion, Atkins Tampa, Florida Finance & Accounting Group is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant. We offer a work/life balance!
MAJOR ROLE/FUNCTION:
Under the direction of senior tax management, analyzes and prepares data for tax reporting and assists with the tax compliance requirements of the firm.
Prepares federal, state and local income tax returns, researches and identifies technical issues, and clearly and logically documents all tax work for review by others.
Prepares apportionment schedules for state income tax returns.
Analyzes and completes the sales and use, property and various other transaction tax returns.
Assists with preparation of the supporting schedules for the income tax provision.
Maintains tax records and returns for joint ventures.
Resolves tax compliance and reporting issues; corresponds with governing agencies during process.
Analyzes and monitors tax accrual and expense accounts.
Researches tax law for tax compliance, taxability issues and special projects.
Assists with regulatory tax audits as required
Partners with internal corporate and field departments in completion of tax compliance and reporting.
Performs such assignments and duties as the Supervisor may deem necessary from time.

Requires a high level of organizational and analytical ability in order to gather and interpret data and handle complex accounting issues and information. Requires the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment.

Work is performed under supervision, but requires use of judgment and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in varied situations. Professional judgment is expected in performing duties. Work is reviewed for progress and results.
INTERNAL CONTACTS (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization):
Contact with all levels of administrative and technical employees.
EXTERNAL CONTACTS (Required interaction/relationship with others outside the organization):
Limited to taxing jurisdictions and accounting firms as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2-5 years’ experience in tax accounting, statutory reporting and filing. Knowledge of Oracle Financials and OneSource income tax compliance software preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Requires strong PC skills and ability to work in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word and Access. Ability to deal effectively and harmoniously with people at all levels of the organization and to represent the firm professionally.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:
CPA certification or actively pursuing certification.
