SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Engineering Team in Orlando as a Senior Telecommunications Engineer.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under direction, applies full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area. On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving engineering investigations and planning work, has affirm grasp of the fundamentals of engineering processes and their application to operating systems. On project involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standard of conduct.


JOB DUTIES

  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials or procedures, or difficult coordination requirements. 
  • Lead multi-discipline teams in the design and implantation of low voltage systems. 
  • Develop engineering documentation including floor plans, schematics/wiring diagrams and details, riser diagrams, equipment rack assemblies/details, interconnection diagrams, equipment installations and test plans for facility low voltage systems. 
  • Review codes and standards for requirements and practices applicable to projects. 
  • Interface with project management, contractors, vendors and stakeholders to coordinate implementation of designs. 
  • Lead the performance of acceptance test procedures for facility low voltage systems, where required. 
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and ensure that assigned designs are in compliance with appropriate technical standards and regulatory codes.
  • Perform design reviews to ensure codes, standards and design requirements are met. 
  • Prepare and review equipment’s specifications and perform technical evaluation of vendor products. 
  • Mentor other engineers. Technical specialists and designers for engineering skills, knowledge, and judgement.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering. 
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with four years’ experience since B.S.; three years’ experience since M.S. 
  • Incumbent typically have six to ten years’ experience since Bachelor’s degree. 


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Minimum 5 years of proved experience with some or all of the following areas; electronics, electrical circuits, communication systems, video systems, and facility low voltage control systems including fire alarm or energy management systems. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership skills. 
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in using common computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, etc. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education in keeping technically proficient. 
  • Team player, able to partner with others in a technical team environment. 
  • Technical leader in facility low voltage systems. 
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle multiple talks priorities. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and assess problems in the field to develop and implement solutions. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit. 
  • Understanding of the following facility low voltage systems: Security (CCTV, Access Control, etc.) Telecom, Datacom, Fire Alarm, Energy Management Systems. 
  • Understanding of life safety systems and fail sage design concepts. 
  • Able to perform risk assessments for non-prescriptive design approaches.
  • Understand the business impact of their decisions. 


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • Florida PE or Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) is required.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 15-25 % travel will be required.
