Introduction
Atkins are recruiting high quality engineers to deliver and manage our building projects. We are looking for engineers with design flair who enjoy undertaking architecturally and structurally challenging projects. The position of Structural Engineer will help to grow our business locally and within the South-East region. We are currently working on a large variety of projects through all sectors of the industry in both the region and internationally and have a growing order book.

Job Description
The Structural Engineer will be a near Chartered/recently chartered Engineer with proven experience in the design and management of various building projects. You will be working closely with engineers of all levels to be directly involved in a broad range of projects both minor and major, overseeing resourcing, staff development and input to bidding. You should have the ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.


Standard Requirements
• Have extensive experience in the design and delivery of projects.
• Practical experience of reinforced concrete and steel detailing
• Have high proficiency in the use of Structural Analysis software, in particular Robot Structural Analysis.
• Have experience in the use of Revit Structure & AutoCAD & have collaboration tool experience (Navisworks etc).
• Have a thorough understanding of BIM and its direction within the industry. Be familiar with Common Data Environments and the latest wider industry AEC(UK) BIM/CAD protocols.
• Experience with parametric modelling software (Dynamo or similar) is desirable but will not hinder suitable applicants
• Experience with software coding (visual C++, python etc) is desirable but will not hinder suitable applicants
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills, ability to work well under pressure and without supervision
• Able to produce a consistently high-quality information.
• Compliance with Quality Assurance procedures.
• Able to write, implement and maintain Project Execution Plans.
• Commercially aware including the ability to scrutinise contracts to negotiate preferential terms.
• Able to work within other offices for periods of time
• Offers of employment are conditional on the candidate being able to successfully obtain security clearance to MOD and Police Standards.
• Full and clean drivers licence.

Responsibilities
In addition to the standard requirements expected of a Structural Engineer role will take responsibility for:
• Assist with business development activities.
• Coordination with team leaders and CAD/BIM Managers from local and other offices and disciplines
• Line management of staff, including time/leave approvals and PDR discussions
• Resource and Project Management. Take responsibility for the commercial performance of projects.
• Attend management meetings when required.
• Mentor and oversee the development of apprentice and less experienced staff
• Be proactive in self-development and development of team members
• Ability to ensure best practice using other software packages including Civil 3D, CADS RC, Grasshopper, Rhino or such like
• Provide best practice leadership to more junior members of the team
• Be familiar with project setup using a range of modelling products (Revit, Bentley etc)
• Maintain a broad range of skills to ensure full support is provided to the design staff
