Atkins has been providing infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients across the United States for more than 50 years.

Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Henderson Nevada Structures Group as a Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer.

Major Function/Role

Under direction, provides the expertise of a seasoned engineer to all conventional aspects of functional area and applies advanced concepts and techniques to unconventional engineering problems. May function as individual researcher or technical specialist. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Job Duties

• As a senior bridge/structural engineer, work independently, complete and deliver high quality work on time and meet the project specific requirements.

• Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.

• Work requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices.

• Provide input to project team, lead by example to achieve goals and champion a quality, innovation. Work in collaboration with other disciplines.

Education and Experience

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.

Professional Registrations

Nevada P.E. license is required
SE license preferred

Special Skills

Proven technical writing and communication skills. Incumbent may be eligible for project management training.

Additional Requirements

Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred. Past working experience in bridges and structures design required. NDOT's project experience preferred.
