Senior Subsea Pipeline Engineer / Subsea Pipeline Engineer

The Role

Joining our Oil & Gas Engineering & Consulting business, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects.  As part of our highly experienced Subsea Engineering team, you will provide value adding, specialist, engineering support to our clients.

You will deliver engineering assessments for a wide variety of conceptual designs and consultancy studies. You will contribute to conceptual studies for challenging marginal, HPHT or deepwater subsea developments.  Using analytical or non-linear FE methods, you can help solve diverse and complex pipeline problems during design and operation, including global buckling, spanning, uprating studies, and defect and anomaly assessments.

You will contribute to the development of new technical methodologies and analysis techniques. You will build and maintain client relationships, and contribute to successful proposals and tenders, with a view to winning more work.  The role will enable you to develop your capabilities in line with the Atkins career paths.

The Person

Your co-operative and helpful attitude will enable you to build client relationships and to work with colleagues to develop cross-discipline capabilities. You will have the ability to cope with challenging problems and flexibility to adapt to individual situations. You will have the potential and desire to progress to Senior Engineer status and beyond. Other key requirements include:

  • Proven success in delivering studies and preparing clear, concise reports against time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of subsea and pipeline engineering, and of regulatory frameworks, codes and standards.  Understanding of global buckling, limit states and HPHT issues is considered advantageous
  • Experience of concept / feasibility design studies for subsea developments; experience of FEED is considered advantageous
  • Experience of pipeline analysis to support design and operations; in-depth knowledge of finite elements methods is considered advantageous.
  • Enthusiasm to challenge existing practices, improve technical methodologies and analysis techniques  
  • Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in mechanical, structural, civil, naval architecture or similar engineering discipline. 
  • Chartered status (or working towards) is considered advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and mature approach to work. 
  • Willingness to develop wider skills and flexibility to work on variety of projects.
