SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, Colorado Software Development team as a Systems Administrator/Document Controls Specialist.

 

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

 

Apply analytical skills to business requests (which are often high-level or lacking in detail) and communicate these business wants/needs in a clear and unambiguous manner. A key part of this is ensuring these requests or requirements are consistent, clear, and concise. The emphasis in the role is to understand the needs from the business perspective and translate them into a form that can be understood and acted on by the client or supporting software developers. This often takes the form of ability statements, smaller sub requirements, functions, tasks, test plans, etc. The analysis may consist of several areas such as Business/Subject Knowledge, IT capabilities, financial and business feasibilities, costs, relevance, data, and dependencies across other business or project areas. Participates in design specification reviews and technical documentation reviews and develops and reviews test plans, status reports, and process models. Works on research assignments at both the office and client sites.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs work which involves the application of industry best practices regarding business process analysis, quality management, and client interaction.
  • Conducts investigations, surveys, requirements gathering and definition, and technology reviews requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.
  • Carries out diverse projects or phases of a single project with a limited number of complex features. Must be able to understand business concepts, and translate client needs into detailed business requirements. responsible for all Project document control, meeting minutes and action item responsibility.
  • The candidate would be responsible for the receipt, classification, recording, indexing, storing, and retrieval of all correspondence, design review and certification, assessments and non-conformance reports, requests for information, request for proposals, construction plans, as constructed plans, Procurement documentation, and any other project documentation.
  • They would coordinate the review of the documents and perform other duties as assigned. Responsible for managing, Maintaining, and administering the Aconex Environment.
  • The candidate would manage roles, reporting, dash boarding, and validation that all established business processes are being followed for documentation being input into the Aconex environment.
  • The candidate will also assist in standing up and initial configuration of the Aconex Environment and will be called upon to make future configurations per the client’s request. The candidate will plan the implementation roadmap, assist with configuration and deployment, manage the environment and document any lessons learned over the duration of the project.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree in an engineering discipline, Computer Science, Economics, Business, Law, Information Technology or Communications with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience preferred OR 14 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Some exposure to industry standards such as ASQ, APQC, ISO, Six Sigma, SEI, PMI, or IIBA.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Good technical writing, analytical and communications skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint. Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Outlook or equivalent e-mail program is desired as well as the use of Internet and other information processing and storage techniques to support research of alternatives and the definition of designs and concepts.
  • Working with suppliers/vendors in partnership to deliver solutions.
  • Experience in review and tracking of client deliverables identified within the project.
  • Experience establishing a document control procedure for the Aconex systems and will ensure that the client and vendor comply with the procedure.
  • Experience in assisting Project staff with tracking documentation required during the Project lifecycle.
  • Experience in tracking Department and Third Party responses and ensure that Department staff is meeting the response time requirements outlined in the department policies.
  • Experience in creating implementation roadmaps
  • Experience in implementing and configuring Aconex
  • Experience in applying proper meta data to documents in order to facilitate industry best practices around document management
