SUMMARY

  •  Responsible for defining and delivering an Engineering Vehicle Certification Business Plan which supports the Business Plan objectives for both your local team and for the overall Assurance service.
  •  Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of staff.
  •  Responsible for delivery of high quality consultancy services to clients, and support to others within the SNC-Lavalin Rail Consulting, as required.
  •  Identifying and supporting developments to the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems that are required for safe and effective delivery of the services.
  •  Being a source of guidance and expertise, specifically in relation to engineering vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Management:

  •  Define and deliver an Engineering Vehicles Certification Business Plan which delivers the Business Plan objectives for both your local team and for the overall Assurance service.
  •  Responsible for staff care and safety.
  •  Lead the bidding and delivery of assignments in engineering vehicle certification and approvals.
  •  Undertake staff appraisals and management reviews as required.
  •  Manage workload and maximise operational effectiveness.
  •  Ensure all team members receive the appropriate training for the assignments they undertake.
  •  Take a leading role in the recruitment of staff and associates to meet or exceed the Business Plan.
  •  Ensure that each task or project is undertaken by individuals or by teams having appropriate levels of qualifications, professional expertise and experience.
  •  Ensure that the roles and responsibilities of team members on each task or project are defined and understood

Assignment Delivery:

  •  Respond efficiently to client enquiries and manage all aspects of tasks undertaken for clients including estimating, tendering, planning and execution.
  •  Ensure that work is completed on time, to budget, and to the client's satisfaction.
  •  Ensure the quality of service meets defined targets and that all work exceeds the expectations of clients.
  •  Ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with SNC-Lavalin Atkins’ procedures, including quality procedures.
  •  Work closely with other team leaders and section heads, acting as a focus for SNC-Lavalin Atkins' range of skills in engineering vehicle certification and approvals.
  •  Maintain professional expertise by participating in an approved Continuing Professional Development Scheme.

Development:

  •  Produce and deliver a service area Development Plan to ensure SNC-Lavalin Atkins' is best placed to meet the emerging market.
  •  Define the organisational structure needed for delivering engineering vehicle certification services.
  •  Train, mentor and develop individuals to help staff fulfill their potential and to enhance their competency and the range of skills that SNC-Lavalin offers to its clients whilst ensuring that staff are well motivated.
  •  Work closely with UK and overseas client account managers to develop and market SNC-Lavalin Atkins’ services for engineering vehicle certification and approvals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  •  Essential - Chartered Engineer with a degree in a relevant discipline, or significant years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Essential - Sufficiently knowledgeable about your area to act as an assignment allocator, checker and approver so that only staff competent to execute and deliver appropriate solutions are used.
  •  Highly desirable - Should be confident to deliver presentations to formal industry forums
  •      Advantageous - Ability to read, write and communicate in a language additional to English.
