The Role
We are looking for a Technical Projects and Engineering Lead to coordinate the engineering and technical delivery of our projects in the European hydrocarbon energy storage markets. 

Working with our international multi-discicplinary surface and subsurface engineering team you will:
• Use your knowledge and experience of multi-disciplinary engineering to plan and then lead the development of solutions to complex technical issues, communicating these solutions to clients and managing them through to implementation.
• Lead thetechnical assurance of our services ensuring the solutions delivered by the energy storage team are technically excellent, commercially viable and aligned with the latest health and safety requirements.
• Cultivate strong working relationships with our existing clients to consolidate the services we provide and develop these into a wider Atkins offering. 
• Play a leading role in building and developing a Germany based engineering team, ensuring that they are appropriately skilled and experienced for both the services currently provided and also those that may be required to support the energy storage market in the future. 
• Interface with the wider Atkins Energy Storage business, actively supporting the coordination of services across Europe

The individual will work within our Germany Energy business, predominantly facing our Energy Storage market and based either at our client site in Wilhelmshaven (near Bremen) or our home office in Hamburg. Flexibility for travel to client sites and our multiple office locations is essential for this role.

Fundamentally this individual will be required to be an expert in their field with a proven track record in leading the resolution of complex technical issues within projects. The individual will plan for and then oversee the development of solutions to these, integrating both sound engineering knowledge and practice with an expert understanding of technical and safety risk implications.

The person

You will have planned and led engineering works on a variety of projects and be able to demonstrate where you have used both technical and leadership abilities to deliver to successful completion.

You will also have a strong interest in the Energy market with a good understanding of multi-discipline engineering (including Owners Engineer, FEED and Detailed Design) as well as asset management.



Requirements

Qualifications
• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline (preferably process or mechanical).
• Professional qualification such as Chartership (or Euro equivalent).

Essential Criteria
• Background in hydrocarbon storage or upstream O&G.
• Extensive experience working in a senior technical leadership role with demonstrable experience in managing technical teams.
• Experience in the integration of process, mechanical, electrical, C&I and subsurface engineering works into coherent engineering solutions.
• Excellent understanding of gas and oil processing plant and gas and oil storage technology.
• Ability to understand a wide range of processes through review of PFDs, P&IDs, Single line diagrams, operating instructions, etc and to be able to communicate this to a variety of levels within a client organisation.
• Extensive experience in the preparing / checking / reviewing Engineering deliverables including:
o Specifications (technical / testing / manufacturing) 
o Engineering drawings
o Engineering reports
o Calculations
• Demonstrable engineering experience with an excellent understanding of project delivery.
• Understanding of the stages in an engineering project – applicable both to plant upgrade / modification and the implementation of a major new plant installation.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations including (but not limited to):
o Borehole Regulations, 
o DCR (offshore installation and wells – design and construction)
o Health and Safety at Work Act. 
o COMAH
o PUWER
o LOLER
o DSEAR
o PSSR
• An interest in emerging fields of energy engineering and technology (e.g. subsurface energy storage such as Hydrogen or CAES).
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and develop solutions to solve complex and high impact problems.
• An active participant in the Energy industry providing insight and guidance to others.
• Commitment to the application of quality assurance and safety standards.
• High level of communication skills, both written and verbal, in both English and German.
• Experienced in creating and presenting technical reports.
• Capable and confident of building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• The self-motivation to perform without supervision.
• Positive outlook and approachable manner.
• Drive and ambition to help us create a market leading business.
• Flexibility to travel and work from client sites.
• Experience of managing geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience of working as part of multi-company partnerships and managing supply chains.
• Demonstrable commitment to continued professional development. 
• Conversant in digital engineering tools such as CAD, CAM packages.
• Proficient in English

Desirable Criteria
• A background in hydrocarbon storage or conventional Oil & Gas industry
• Knowledge of well engineering or related subsurface disciplines
• A knowledge of the German Mining Authority regulations and standards
• Fellowship of accredited body.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
