Technical Director - Intelligent Mobility

Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility will include:
• assuring technical delivery in bidding and project delivery
• building a leading presence in the Intelligent Mobility ecosystem, establishing strong senior relationships in new and existing markets
• developing value propositions with colleagues and proactively taking these to market
• working with the marketing team to ensure that Atkins insight, thought leadership and marketing campaigns are properly targeted to build our Intelligent Mobility profile
• supporting project delivery teams once IM work has been secured, providing technical knowledge and experience to manage major risks and issues as necessary
• supporting Practice Directors with strategic technical resource planning activities to ensure we have the capacity and capability to capitalise on future demand
• support the development and execution of future growth strategies
• coaching staff on their technical development and promote the Technical Development career path

Required Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
• evidence of technical report production, thought leadership and contributing to published articles in Intelligent Mobility
• evidence working with industry related SME's and Academia
• demonstrable experience and delivery in any of: digital technology & infrastructure; connected and autonomous vehicles; mobility as a service; cyber security; journey management, data analytics or digital services
• experience of product road mapping, developing VPs, translating new / disruptive technologies.
• a track record of technical coaching and/or mentoring
• involvement in research and/or recognition as a technical expert in their field

WINNING WORK / SALES:
• sales in a client and consultancy market-facing background, preferably within private and public sector
• significant contributions to sales strategy and /or building business in new areas
• experience authoring compelling bids and pitching to clients with a high success rate
• experience of successfully operating within a target-driven environment, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding targets
• a background in shaping policy and/or advisory knowledge

• a track record of delivery of technically innovative projects
• experience in developing and delivering profitable incubator businesses
• evidence of trusted, long-term relationships with clients
• transport sector experience delivering projects for clients such as Highways England, Transport for London, Department for Transport, Transport Systems Catapult and local authorities

STRATEGIC NETWORKING:
• experience of building effective networks, both internally and externally
• excellence in client relationship management, with an ability to access and influence at senior level with ease
• experience of developing strategic relationships with clients and exploring ways to add significant value to the client’s agenda
• understanding of IM's non-traditional client base
• existing profile in an area of the IM / Smart City market, with an active technical network
