You will be undertaking the production of Railway Telecoms Designs within our existing Glasgow Telecoms Design Team. The designs cover both Operational Telecoms and Station Information and Security Systems (SISS) for clients such as Network Rail and Installation contractors.

We require a Railway Telecoms Design Engineer to work within our existing telecoms design team in Glasgow.

Requirements
• Proven experience in similar position with current or previous UK Railway Telecoms Design Experience
• Detailed understanding of Network Rail and Telecoms Assurance regimes
• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Communications Disciplines
• Incorporated Engineer, holder of relevant IRSE Design License or ability to attain these
• Experience of SISS and Operational Telecoms
• Experience in the use of Computer Aided Design Packages (Micro station).
• Strong collaborative behaviours to interface with internal and external stakeholders / clients
• Willing to travel and work at various locations within the UK, which may include unsocial hours on an occasional basis
• Previously undertaken the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer
• Able to produce written communication that is easily understood;
• Good interpersonal skills;

There will be a requirement to support the client during the construction phase of third party projects. This will involve:
• Review of subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with Network Rail standards
• Production of Design Review Notices
• Liaison with the TOC for new and affected assets
• Attendance at Technical progress and Inter Disciplinary Check/ Review Meetings
• Attendance at site meetings during construction to agree and resolve project issues
• Assist with resolving Technical Queries
• Approval of subcontractor design


Responsibilities
Undertake the design of Railway Telecoms System (Ops & SISS) at various GRIP stages on assigned projects. This will include;
• Development of telecoms designs and solutions for projects and tenders
• Production of documentation to demonstrate the telecoms system design meets the clients assurance regime;
• Co-ordination with other disciplines;
• Production of design deliverables including specifications, reports, schedules, drawings and technical schematics;
• Production of temporary and stage works designs;
• Management of 3rd party equipment manufacturers and suppliers to ensure proposed equipment is suitable for the individual project requirements;
• Verification of the design against customer requirements and standards;
• Attendance at internal and external co-ordination, progress and design review meetings;
• Undertake design reviews of other concurrent Communication Systems designs.
• Provide technical support to bids and tenders as required.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
