Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team at our client's site in Boca Raton, Florida as a Tolls / Transportation Engineer Intern supporting Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.

The ideal candidate will have a background in information technology or transportation engineering.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma, plus two years of specialized training such as is obtained in vocational, technical school, or completion of an Associate's degree program in a related technical field, or completion of the minimum of first year in a four-year college or university technical program.

Major Function/Role:

This position is very broad in description and qualified candidates will be placed based on experience, area of interest, and current degree focus.
Candidates will work under supervision, and will perform a variety of routine technical tasks to assist technicians, engineers, planners, architects, surveyors or scientists working in transportation, development, environmental, land surveying or the Information Technology area and will provide technical services of the company in support of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.

Job Duties:

Conduct Field Data Collection, gathers, logs and summarizes field notes or other data to be used by technicians or professionals in technical studies or projects.
Establishes and maintains records or files of technical data or documents. Performs mathematical calculations.
Performs various routine drafting and CAD assignments. Assists in the preparation of graphic displays and presentation materials. Provide First Level IT Support in resolving customer issues. Prepare Customer-driven Reports.
Assist in daily data support.
Opportunity to work with various teams pending an area of focus: 1)Information Technology candidates could work with Infrastructure, Network, Windows and Systems Intelligence 2)Transportation candidates could work in any areas of engineering related to the Tolling/Transportation field
Performs such other duties s the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary

Special Skills:

Strong technical writing and communication skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
Math skills and drafting/CAD ability are generally required.
Computer skills required to enter data in spreadsheets or databases. Individuals may need to utilize programs such as CA Unicenter, Smartsheets, Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Strong personal computer skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is required. SQL skills are desirable.
Position requires ability to deal effectively and harmoniously with people at all levels of the organization and to represent the firm professionally. Good interpersonal skills are essential to interact effectively.
