AtkinsRéalis Rail & Transit team in Canada looking for a Traction Power Engineer to join their growing team in Vancouver BC. This position reports to the Power Supply and Distribution Engineering Manager in our Vancouver Office. As a Traction Power Engineer your primary role will be design, construction support and commissioning support for the medium voltage distribution and traction power system on rail transit projects. You will gain the knowledge and expertise on all aspects from design to the completion and start up of traction power systems for both new projects and brownfield works.

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

Your role within the team

As a member of our Rail & Transit team, you will:

  • Design, Construction and Commissioning of AC Electrical and DC Traction Power systems.
  • Preparation of Specifications, Design Drawings and Documentation.
  • Preparation of Test Procedures.
  • Detailed design of equipment layouts, cable tray, conduits and ducts, wiring and cabling.
  • Perform field reviews and inspections.
  • Provide technical support for procurement, construction and T&C.
  • Interface with the other discipline Designers and Engineers.

The ideal candidate

  • Valid Professional Engineer designation, registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or PEO
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer, or related Engineering program from a recognized institution.
  • Has at least 2 - 5 years of project related experience
  • Have worked in 1 major railway project.
  • Knowledge low and medium voltage electrical design and DC traction power system design.
  • Overhead Contact Systems and/or Power Rail Systems would be an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge relevant of Canadian and North American Codes and Standards.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Good leadership and organization skills, a self-starter, works well within a team.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $68,000 - $94,000 annually

Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
