Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Atlanta, GA staff as a Traffic Engineer.

Major/Function/Role:

Under supervision, performs routine traffic/transportation engineering work while developing professional proficiency.
On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications.
On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems.
Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Job Duties:

Generally applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.
Will assist with work that involves conventional transportation and traffic engineering practice.
Primary responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, those stated below:
Perform traffic simulation and capacity analysis;
Develop project level traffic forecasts;
Supporting with the preparation of written reports and presentations of project findings;
Analyze historical crash data; and
Perform field reviews of project study area

Education & Experience:

B.S. in Engineering.
Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree.

Special Skills:

Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.
Preference will be given to candidates that are familiar with and/or have experience with traffic analysis software (TransModeler, Synchro, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, CORSIM, etc).

Professional Registrations:

E.I. or EIT desired.
