Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team as a Traffic Operations Engineer in Denver, CO.

 

Job Description

 

Atkins is looking for an experienced and talented individual to join our Denver transportation planning team to provide traffic operations modeling. We are a growing practice working on a diverse range of high profile projects including I-25 Central PEL and I-70 Floyd Hill. We're looking for an individual to help deliver projects for local, regional, and key national clients.

We have a strong forward-looking workload with major clients including the City and County of Denver, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration. Our teams are currently delivering exciting and nationally important infrastructure projects, including roadways, bus rapid transit, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. They are developing new technical solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities provided by Intelligent Mobility including the application of mobile phone data and other sources of 'big data.'

Looking at complex projects from every angle, you'll help our customers to find the best solutions to their transportation challenges. You'll make the most of your analytical skills and client focus to guide others and deliver interesting high-quality projects.

Job Duties


Apply traffic operations modeling software such as VISUM, AIMSUN, VISSIM, S-PARAMICS, TransModeler or any similar package to a wide range of projects.

Use analytic and/or programming skills to analyze big data.
Lead and develop project teams.
Prepare project reports detailing your analysis results.
Work on multi-disciplinary projects as a team member or a project manager.
Manage project scopes, schedules and budgets.

Atkins is looking to add staff who:

• Are dynamic and passionate about the transportation planning and modeling field
• Possess excellent analytical, numeracy and problem-solving skills
• Have an interest and appreciation of current transport policy and the key factors influencing national and local authority clients as well as private sector considerations
• Demonstrate a proven track record in applying a range of relevant analytical techniques to meet varying client / project requirements on a diverse range of projects
• Have good organizational, communication, time and budget management skills



Job Requirements


B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level my be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since Bachelor's degree.

Good technical writing, computer and communications skills. May be eligible to receive project management training.

Microsimulation experience required (VISSIM, TransModeler, etc.); Travel Demand Modeling experience desired.
