SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Bartow, FL office as an Transit/Rail Coordinator.

MAJOR FUNCTION ROLE

Serves as the FDOT D1 Bus/Transit/Rail Coordinator for all transportation infrastructure assignments that interface with bus routes, transit elements, and/or rail crossings, working in the FDOT D1 Bartow office. Expectations are that this individual applies seasoned expertise and techniques to coordinate and communicate with FDOT, consultants, and outside agencies to help identify and resolve bus, transit, rail issue transportation projects from planning thru implementation. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of contact.

JOB DUTIES

FDOT has an annual work plan with multiple projects and assignments. In support of help delivering the work plan typical assignments and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Planning and coordination with local bus/transit agencies for services, including routes, stations and shelters
  • Review consultant design plans for interface of bus/transit elements to ensure transit elements are appropriately identified, coordinated and developed
  • Assistance in identifying challenges and issues at rail crossings, and then seeking to outline the process for solutions to challenges
  • Grant assistance in rail crossing improvements
  • Coordinating with new development and local communities with respect to bus service needs
  • Construction activities with contractors


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work with multiple entities (internal staff, consultants, transit agencies, and municipalities).
  • The ideal candidate has worked in and around transportation infrastructure assignments, can read and interpret construction plans, and can offer suggestions to help solve technical challenge.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • P.E. license is desired, but not mandatory. The PE license may be waived if the candidate has a resume showing successfully serving in similar capacity
