Atkins’ Transportation Consultancy Practice comprises c500 staff delivering planning, technical and advisory consultancy services to a wide-ranging client base in the UK and overseas. We are part of a larger Transportation business of 3,000 talented professionals covering highway, rail and local transport sectors in the UK.
In 2017 we will be establishing a new Consultancy team in our Aldershot office to support our continued growth and to work more closely with local clients. Over the next year we want to grow the team to around 25 staff with a broad range of transport consultancy skills.
We are looking for people to join us at different levels who want to contribute to shaping and growing a high performing, dynamic team that works seamlessly with our wider national Transportation business but also helps grow our presence in local markets.
We have a vacancy for a senior member of staff specialising in transport planning to be based in Aldershot. We operate Consultancy as a national business and the successful candidate will lead transport planning projects for both local and national clients and will be expected to support our wider-business growth across the country, working collaboratively with staff from other offices and disciplines.
The role holder will, though, have specific responsibility for developing relationships with and winning work from local clients in London and the South East, working closely with our client account managers that oversee the large number of local authority frameworks we have in south east and south west England. The role holder will also provide technical and project leadership to the local Aldershot team.
The successful candidate will have a general background in transport planning that embraces planning, modelling, business cases, transport scheme development and statutory processes, with experience in working with local authorities and ideally, also, with either Highways England or private sector developers.
To lead consultancy projects as a senior project manager across a wide range of transport planning areas including policy and strategy, scheme development, appraisal and business cases, stakeholder engagement, and statutory processes. This will require taking responsibility for delivery of projects on time, on budget and to the required level of technical quality, applying Atkins’ project governance processes.
To provide technical expertise in transport planning ensuring technical excellence and a first-class product for our clients, including: responsibility for technical leadership for the team in Aldershot; and supporting other senior staff in Consultancy providing technical leadership across our entire business.
Working with client account managers to identify new business opportunities and contribute to winning new commissions and frameworks; this will entail taking leadership roles in bidding tenders.
