Consultants from Atkins and their partners in the supply chain, are working with government, local authorities, private developers and agencies worldwide to develop our future cities and infrastructure.
We have a growth plan to respond to this pipeline of work and we are currently recruiting talented individuals to help deliver transport planning projects for our expanding client base. With over 300 specialists in our Transport Planning business we have the flexibility and resources to provide our clients with an extensive range of services including transport policy and strategy planning, traffic modelling, scheme appraisal, travel demand management, scheme design and development planning.
The Role:
We are currently recruiting an ambitious Engineer for our Transport Planning business and would like to discuss this exciting opportunity with prospective candidates. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who can contribute to shaping and growing a high performing, dynamic team, working seamlessly across our national business. We cover all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record and solid technical capability in the Traffic Engineering/ Public Realm field.
The role will involve proactively supporting project managers in the delivery of traffic engineering and public realm projects including investigations and scheme design, the preparation of drawings, scheme costs and reports. This exciting opportunity will provide a platform for career development and experience of working on a range of high-profile projects in London and the south east. Some of our key projects include the Canary Wharf to Rotherhithe Crossing, the Croydon Area Remodelling Scheme and the third runway expansion

The Candidates:
Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound technical competence
- Ability to work under pressure and proven success in meeting deadlines
- Confident team worker with ability to work independently
- Experience of working to time and budget constraints.
Successful candidates will:
- Have a civil engineering degree or equivalent
- Be a Chartered Engineer or can show evidence of actively working towards Chartership Status
- Appropriate previous experience of design and site supervision of urban highway, transport or public realm schemes, including cycling and pedestrian schemes, high street improvements and signalised junctions
- A working knowledge of CDM and relevant Health and Safety regulations
- Knowledge and appreciation of current UK industry best practice
- Delivery of work in line with DMRB and MfS guidance
It is desirable that candidates will be able to demonstrate technical skills and competencies commensurate with their level of experience such as:
- Experience of 3D design using AuoCAD 3D
- Experience with ProjectWise
- Working knowledge of construction contracts
