We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team as a Transportation Planner/Traffic Engineer in Denver, Colorado. In this position, you will provide transportation planning services, which may include performing alternatives analysis for corridor studies, traffic operations modeling, safety studies, noise analysis, and other related planning services. We are a growing practice working on a diverse range of high-profile projects throughout Colorado and other states. We're looking for an individual to help deliver projects for local, regional, and key national clients.

The successful candidate will have experience with multi-modal or transit projects, grant-writing, traffic modeling, knowledge of safety tools and analysis, noise analysis, or other related planning services.  They will lead technical tasks, assist with documentation, and contribute expertise in advanced concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems.  The individual will coordinate with internal project staff and subconsultants, participate in client coordination, and participate in proposals and business development.   

We have a strong forward-looking workload with major clients including the Colorado Department of Transportation, Denver International Airport, and the Federal Highway Administration. Our teams are currently delivering exciting and nationally important infrastructure projects, including corridor and environmental studies, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. They are developing new technical solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities provided by Intelligent Mobility, electric vehicle infrastructure, and Vision Zero.

How will you contribute to the team?

As a Transportation Planner/Traffic Engineer you will:

  • Work on multi-disciplinary teams as a team member or task leader.

  • Experience a variety of transportation planning projects, such as traffic and transit microsimulation, multimodal corridor studies, transportation demand management plans, transportation impact studies, traffic signal warrants, bicycle and pedestrian facility planning, local/regional transportation plans, safety studies, or noise analysis.

  • Create and screen improvement alternatives, perform traffic operations analysis and macro/micro simulation analysis, and refine conceptual designs.

  • Analyze field-collected data using spreadsheet and software models and work with big data.

  • Assist with public outreach for corridor studies.

  • Develop future traffic projections following agency-specific methodologies and procedures.

  • Document methods and findings in technical reports that are accessible to wide audiences.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or Planning or related field.

  • A minimum of four years of relevant work experience.

  • Display strong technical writing and written communications skills.

  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with traffic analysis, safety, and mapping software such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, VISUM, TransCAD, Transmodeler, IHSDM, ARCGIS, and TNM.

  • Be dynamic and passionate about the transportation planning field.

  • Ability to effectively manage tasks and develop solid internal and client relationships.

  • Registered PE or AICP preferred

  • Demonstrated familiarity with and/or experience with BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and others preferred.

  • Confidence in public speaking before audiences of laypersons, stakeholders, teaming partners, and owners preferred.

Expected compensation range is between $75,000 - $110,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
