Atkins Transportation Division covers all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. Objectives
- Assist Resource Management team to meet Atkins Resource requirements, for all projects currently active, to include Construction, Telecoms, London Underground, Design and any other Team within Transportation requiring safety or other resources.
- Comply with appropriate procedures in procurement of assigned resources.
- Apply relevant technical and safety standards applicable to activities to provide a cost effective, quality service.

Principal Activities
- Undertake in a pro-active manner the securing, tracking, and monitoring of Signalling installation resources as requested.
- Assist Resource Management team as required in the co-ordination of resource support involved in signalling activities.
- Adhere to the requirements of Atkins Transportation standards, procedures, processes and Project Plans to enable efficient and cost effective completion of contract work.
- Co-operate with quality, safety and environmental objectives and contribute, where appropriate, to Atkins Rail Limited commitment for continual improvement.
- Contribute, where appropriate to Atkins commitment for continual improvement.

Main Tasks and Responsiblities
- Maintain close contact with all Allocated staff to establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Be available on each identified site as requested by Resource Management team, (more if required for busy Commissioning periods).
- Feed back to line manager for appropriate action if required and to develop and maintain good working relationships with Construction Management team.
- Confirm selection of staff as agreed by Construction Manager, with both internal and external resource provider, in writing if necessary to avoid miss understanding.
- Follow procurement guidelines for resourcing of contract staff
- Review invoices in Resource Management team’s Accorde queue’s, ensuring correct coding to job numbers and checking for discrepancies to Purchase Order and PROF issued
- Ensuring swift resolution of issues raised in line with the above with our suppliers
- Updating of Atkins staff whereabouts spread sheet accurately and to show 4 week projected workplace, and to include courses or leave booked, and sickness.
- Assist in the booking of courses. Liaise with Training administrator for staff courses raised by PDR’s
- Attend Resource cascade meetings, take minutes, provide input and feed back (where requested).
- Undertake home visits as and when required with Resource Manager, for long term sick, staff members, and if possible assist with welfare, or refer to HR when necessary.
- Update & Maintain Annual Leave spreadsheet and have responsibility for the integrity of the information held therein
- Attend Construction cascade briefs
- Process medication forms obtained from Chemist on Call with HR and relay any restrictions back to site management
- Arrange Hotel accommodation for Signalling Installation teams on all projects, as directed by Resource Management team
- Arrange medicals as and when required
- Advise Construction Managers of any individuals sickness and of expected duration of absence
- Obtain self certificates from staff when required, completing a return to work form if absence is 3 days or longer.
- Check allocated staff expenses, advise authorized travel times when required (as per AutoRoute and set mileages in Reference File), resolve any issues as they arise, and approve if appropriate.
- Assist as required to achieve Business Unit / Project Objectives
- Obtain ID Cards for all Staff


Qualifications and Experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
- Knowledge of the basic accounting
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Ability or willing to drive

Quality, Safety and Environmental Information
- Atkins provides a fully comprehensive legislation, quality, safety and environment standards information service via its electronic Intranet facility available to staff.
- Safety libraries at each major office location provide a further information source.
- Where appropriate to the duties performed, individuals will be issued with a personalised Network Rail Rule Book by the Information Co-ordinator.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- If you work “On or Near the Line” you are issued with high visibility clothing, safety footwear and a hard hat.
- Other PPE will be issued to enable compliance with control measures detailed in risk assessment of the task(s) to be performed.
- It is your responsibility to wear or use PPE appropriate to the task being performed and to check that it is fit for purpose prior to each us

Safety Critical Work
- This role does not include safety critical work activities in accordance with the “Railway (Safety Critical Work) Regulations”
- The role is expected to hold or be prepared to undertake training in Personal Track Safety (PTS) as a minimum to enable access to staff on site where appropriate
- All safety critical work activities require compliance with the Atkins Transportation Business Management Procedure “Safety Critical Work”.

Quality, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Co-operate in all safety and environmental matters to help Atkins Rail Limited meet its legal and contractual safety responsibilities.
- Comply with legislation, company standards, contract conditions, method statements and measures to control risks identified in your activities.
- Notify your manager of any new hazards to health and safety imported by your activities and assist as necessary with risk assessments and identification of control measures.
- Communicate with other groups connected with, or affected by, your activities to clarify areas of demarcation and responsibilities.
- Maintain your certification in-date and carry it, together with identification, for inspection purposes. Report requirement for re-certification to your manager and attend training as requested.
- Do not undertake duties for which you do not have the required experience and qualifications.
- Review technical changes (Client Company and Railway Group Standards) and responsibilities in your activities to check that safety issues are adequately dealt with.
- Assist with the continual development of systems and processes by co-operating with audits and the progression of actions for improvement.
- When entering work sites report to the person in charge and complete the visitors or registration book.
- Report all health, safety and environmental incidents and accidents through the
- Atkins accident/incident reporting process.
- Adhere to the Atkins Drug and Alcohol Policy and co-operate with screening requirements.
- Adhere to the Atkins Working Time Arrangements by recording excessive hours worked on the appropriate Atkins form.
- Attend safety meetings and briefings and read all safety information sent to you.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment, safety, measuring and test equipment issued to you, or made available for your use, in the proper manner. Keep it fit for purpose by careful use, storage and, where appropriate, check that inspection and testing is in date.
- Do not import any item that has not been formally approved for used into Atkins work processes.
- Comply with arrangements for dealing with fire evacuation, other emergency situations and first aid arrangements.
- If you are a Controller of Site Safety, ensure that persons under your control are briefed regarding the safe system of work and that necessary documentary evidence is completed prior to starting work.
- If you are a Lookout or Site Warden you must comply with instruction from your COSS and remain alert at all times to the safety of the group you are protecting.
- If you are a ‘User’ of display screen equipment you must complete a Display Screen Equipment User Identification form obtained from the local QSE Co-ordinator.

Project Specific Extension to Role Profile
- Additional duties and responsibilities, including Safety Critical Work, identified within the project planning process shall be notified to appropriate individuals by the Project Manager via a “Supplementary Role Profile”.
- These shall be held on project files for audit purposes and shall be operative for the duration of the project/contract.

Review of Role Profile
- This role profile shall be reviewed prior to organisational change, during annual appraisal or at any time significant change to content becomes apparent.
- The amended Role shall be agreed, signed and dated prior to re-issue.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
