The Treasury Associate role is a SNC-Lavalin Group Treasury role reporting to the Assistant Treasurer of SNC-Lavalin, based in Epsom.  The key responsibilities of this role relate to:

FX – FX expert within the Epsom treasury team, providing advice to the business and one of four dealers across the global treasury team on the E-trading platform. Cash – Supervising the managing of the UK cash pool, and maximising repatriations of cash to Head Office in Montreal

Main responsibilities

The following will make up the main responsibilities of this role but there may be other items that are required from time to time.

FX

  • The Treasury Associate will be the FX expert within the Epsom treasury team, helping to identify and mitigate FX exposures around the group;
  • Key contact with the business for giving FX advice on projects
  • Will calculate and issue bid and project rates.
  • Fixing and communication with Shared Service Facility re non-deliverable forward trades for the Global Design Centre in India.  Looking at rolling programme for hedging INR exposure and proposing additional hedging as required.
  • Designated “dealer” on the E-trading platform and providing back-up support to Montreal dealers.

Cash Management – supervising the following activities:

  • Daily review of cash in GBP, EUR and USD pools in the UK
  • Managing short term daily forecasts of GBP, EUR and USD including interaction with shared service team and businesses to ensure that the data in the forecasts is as reliable as possible
  • Make recommendations to Assistant Treasurer for repatriations of excess cash from those pools back to Canada or alternatively manage requirements of funds from head office.
  • Management of foreign currency balances in the UK to minimise these where possible and make recommendations for foreign currency purchases/sales to meet requirements of the business.
  • Updating foreign currency forecasts using quarterly returns from the business
  • Make recommendations to Assistant Treasurer in relation to settlement of intercompany trading balances monthly

Cash Pooling Projects

  • Review of options in relation to European cash outside of the UK for potential to add into new UK pool.
  • Review of cash pooling options with partner banks for the Middle East.

Full time role.  There is likely to be a requirement to assist with cash management duties between Christmas and New Year.

Qualifications/Skills

Essential

Either accounting or treasury qualified or part-qualified

Considerable experience of the key areas of FX and cash management

Attention to detail, an ability to multi task and re-prioritise work according to needs, strong organisational skills

A strong understanding of good governance, systems and processes within treasury

Excellent Excel skills

Ability to pick up new ideas quickly and new systems and processes

Ability to absorb and interpret large volumes of data
