Purpose of the Role:

 

The Unified Communications Engineer position is a hands-on role to manage, monitor and support the on premises Skype for Business and Skype telephony infrastructure as well as Skype online and Microsoft Teams. Working within the Unified Communication Team within the Tech services Division you will provide support with resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering on projects, delivery of new services and offering technical advice to project teams.

 

This role may suit an individual who has 7+ years of experience within a 2nd line support environment and has proven experience troubleshooting Skype for Business, Skype telephony and Microsoft Teams related issues within a large organisation.  There will be scope to develop scripts and automation processes to support a global environment.  The successful candidate will be dynamic, analytical and able to come up with smart solutions within budget constraints[MS(2] .

  

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities

 

·          The candidate must have handled medium to large Skype environments

·          In-depth troubleshooting of Skype for business and Skype telephony related server-side issues

·          Good understanding of setting up Microsoft Teams and resolving day to day technical issues and user queries

·          Experience with Skype for Business, Skype for Business Online deployments and migrations

·          Experience deploying and configuring Skype for Business audio, video and telephony solutions as well as integration with Exchange/Office 365 Unified Messaging

·          Very strong in ITIL Processes

·          identify potential capacity issues in the environment and able to mitigate quickly 

 

Experience Required

 

Essential Technical Requirements

To be successful in this role we would expect you to have  in depth experience with:

·          Skype server administration / support experience on Skype for business 2015/ Skype online

·          The candidate should be familiar with all the functionalities/features of Skype for business 2015/ Skype online

·          Knowledge and experience with Office 365 and MS Teams

·          Scripting skills, particularly in PowerShell

·          MCSE on Microsoft Skype for Business

 

You must also be able to demonstrate experience with:

 

Desirable Technical Experiences

·        Additional Microsoft Infrastructure Experience (Exchange, SQL, etc)

·          Clear and fluent English (both verbal and written)

·          Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams
