The Atkins Consulting Services Group is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Austin, TX office as a Utility Coordinator.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE
Provide assistance to Project Manager or Technical Manager by coordinating or performing a variety of technical duties requiring professional-level technical knowledge and familiarity with engineering or related project work, such
as design, permitting, production, reporting and documentation, as required by specific position.

JOB DUTIES
  • Under direction, performs several of the following duties, depending on the program/project and in accordance with established standards and applicable regulatory policies.
  • Coordination of utility adjustment process for roadway, rail and utility projects including identification of existing utilities and identifying conflicts
  • Interpret plans & schedules to anticipate conflicts and resolution, review documents, utility records research, and coordinate/conduct meetings with affected parties, agencies and municipalities.
  • Participate in the preparation of contracts, fee proposals, scopes of work, and invoices.
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals, presentations and related marketing material and publications.
  • Coordinate and track project submittals, permitting and relocation efforts.
  • Conduct on-site visits and review plans and estimates to evaluate compliance with rules and regulations.
  • May determine eligibility and betterment ratios based on applicable law, policies, rules and regulations.
  • May oversee and coordinate the work of consultants or others to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and/or review Utility Agreement Assemblies, Joint Use Agreements and Record as-built drawings
  • Prepare utility cost estimates
  • Review plan and profile construction drawings and underground utility improvements.
  • Research prior rights and franchise agreement issues
  • May perform such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree plus continued education through workshops, seminars, and related courses plus four years of experience in engineering or related technical professional activities, exhibiting familiarity with related computer programs and applicable permitting work.
SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Good technical writing, communication, analytical ability and computer skills. 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, 3-D Modeling and MicroStation preferred
  • Public Utility experience preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree may be substituted for 10 years of experience in the public utility or pipeline industry exhibiting familiarity with related planning, design, construction, computer programs and applicable permitting work.
  • Job requires On-site field inspections. 
  • If position requires driving a company-owned, leased or rented vehicle or own personal vehicle, incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
