Annual Salary : £30,000 - £35,000

Atkins is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our Waste & Resource Management Team in Epsom, to expand our capability in sustainability and environmental assessment.

The Team provides expert advice and support to clients across all Atkins’ key market sectors. Our work includes waste management plans and strategies development of waste and energy recovery infrastructure, feasibility studies, strategic support and advice, regulatory and policy compliance, waste characterisation, sustainability and resource conservation, carbon footprinting and environmental impact assessment.


Role & Responsibilities
• Daily tasks are likely to include providing professional guidance to our clients in the application of effective waste management and sustainability in their activities, the production of waste strategies and environmental audits, the analysis and interpretation of complex environmental data, and reviewing and advising on environmental regulations, legislative standards, guidelines and policies, with an especial focus on waste and sustainability. 

• Technical information will be communicated through report writing, and therefore excellent report writing skills are a must, but may also include presentations, workshops, meetings and educational events, so strong communication skills will also be necessary.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:
• Sustainability Assessment;
• Sustainability Reporting Guidelines;
• Circular economy; 
• Life cycle analysis;
• Carbon footprinting/ modelling; 
• Corporate Social Responsibility reporting; and
• Project and bid management.

Experience in the following would be advantageous:
• Solid waste treatment and management systems; 
• Waste management plans and strategies; and
• Knowledge of UK and EU waste regulations; 

The individual
Candidates for this role must be open to travel within the UK with the possibility for occasional short-term international assignments. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of:
• Ability to show initiative, with a confident, professional “Can Do” approach;
• Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills;
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically;
• Have an interest in and understanding of broader environmental and sustainability issues;
• Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences
• Have a full UK/EEC driving licence.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview
