Wastewater Modeller

Atkins, an SNC-Lavalin company, is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies; we have the breadth and depth of expertise to respond to the most technically challenging and time-critical infrastructure projects. We work with water companies in the UK and overseas, supporting their capital and operational projects and programmes, and due to growth in this sector we are currently seeking a Wastewater Modeller to join our established water team based in Peterborough.

The successful candidate will join a team of hydraulic modellers, geographers and civil engineers and play a key role in delivering to Water Company Clients and Local Authorities, with the potential to work on international projects around the world. You will assist in the delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects, such as Water and Wastewater Network Modelling, Sewerage Management and Drainage Area Planning, Stormwater Management, Software Solutions, Surveying, Infrastructure and Design, project management assistance and liaison with other offices, clients and staff.

Detailed role requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geography (but will consider other disciplines or qualifications depending on experience)
• 3+ years’ experience in wastewater modelling using InfoWorks CS and ICM
• Experience of MapInfo, InfoWorks CS, 2D, ICM, InfoNet is desirable
• Experience of MapBasic, Visual Basic, Ruby Script would be an advantage
• Experience of undertaking Drainage Area Plan studies
• Capable of leading small project teams and mentoring
• Willingness to contribute to our technical knowledge network
• A good understanding of UK water industry

• Ability to be flexible and to multi-task and prioritise when necessary

• Construction and verification of wastewater models to investigate flood risk and flood mechanisms and develop outline and detail options and solutions
• Planning and supervision of site asset surveys for physical and condition assessments.
• Analysis of wastewater operational and telemetry data
• Checking and reviewing modelling work undertaken by others 
• Preparing technical reports and other project deliverables
• Interfacing with clients on projects
• Contributing towards technical innovation
• Proactive commitment to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
