Following significant successes in securing major new water management frameworks with our clients across the UK we are looking for specialists and innovators in water resources, water quality and aquatic sciences at various levels of experience to join our Water Management Consultancy practice

  • Must have a degree in a relevant discipline and preferably relevant post-graduate qualification (Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Engineering with Water Resources Management).
  • Ideally have some relevant industry, consultancy or research experience.
  • Experience in the planning and design of water supply assets (pipelines, pumping station and treatment works) is a key requirement and experience of water resource management planning highly desirable
  • Experience in engineering design, managing contract documentation and construction management
  • Applicants must be familiar with relevant technical codes of practice and industry standards, be familiar with the context of projects and the range of services relevant to engineering from initial planning through to construction management, and the relevant consents and approvals processes.
  • Working knowledge of the UK Water Resources Management Planning processes and prevailing legislation.
  • Must have practical experience in some of the following:
      • Water resources systems
      • Options appraisal – i.e. feasibility studies, design and appraisal of water resources options
      • Outline design of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS), environmental enhancement schemes, river restoration and habitat creation projects
      • Supply-demand appraisal
      • Investment appraisal, cost benefit analysis and strategic planning
      • Resilience assessment
  • Understanding of water resources systems and hydraulic modelling (Miser, Aquator, Synergi, InfoWorks, etc.) would be desirable.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of programme and financial management.
  • Applicants must be highly numerate and familiar with IT and software appropriate to the tasks undertaken.
  • To support the delivery of projects within the Water Management Consultancy team and work collaboratively with other Atkins’ businesses.
  • Depending on experience, to support or lead on delivery of key technical areas related to water resources and investment modelling
  • To support enquiries and provide input to bids for the future success of the business.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationships which can lead to repeat business.
  • To work effectively as part of a team and with other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) throughout Atkins to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients.
