The Water Resource Planning team in Atkins has been at the forefront of new developments for the latest Water Resource Management Planning cycle. We have created new tools and approaches that are revolutionising how the UK Water Industry plans resilient and sustainable water supplies for the future. We intend to build on this success to grow our team and continue to lead the water industry at home and overseas.

We have vacancy for an enthusiastic and ambitious Water Resource Modeller & Planner to take a lead role developing our world class Water Management Consultancy, in the field of water resources.

We are seeking a candidate capable of Project Managing and supporting Project Managers to deliver high-profile projects across the UK and overseas as required. Project work will be varied from water resource and drought planning, business planning, hydrology, strategic planning, EIA, as well as R&D work.

The vacancy is for someone who will combine excellent technical skills with a desire to create new approaches for the water industry. 

Requirements
• Must have a degree in a relevant discipline (with focus on Water/Catchment Management).
• A minimum of 6 years’ experience with a track record in winning and delivering high-profile work.
• Experience in water resources modelling and management is a key requirement, including experience with the Aquator and or Miser software. 
• Good knowledge of the Water Resource Planning Guidelines, Water Framework Directive (WFD) and a desire to develop new approaches is essential.
• Experience of hydro-ecological investigation, water quality and impact assessments would be desirable.
• Applicants must be highly numerate, literate and familiar with IT and software appropriate to the tasks undertaken.
• Strong coding skills in Python or similar are desirable. 
• Will ideally be able to demonstrate working knowledge of project and financial management.
• Chartered status (e.g. CIWEM, CEnv, CSci).
• Have a valid driving license, be available to travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.


Responsibilities
The role will include responsibility for:
• Supporting and leading the delivery of projects within our Water Resources Planning Team and work collaboratively with other teams in our Water Management Consultancy and across Atkins’ businesses.
• Help develop technical capability within the Water Resources Technical Network, through service development (including digital tools), technical excellence development, mentoring and supervision of staff.
• To support and lead on work-winning, influencing the future success of the business.
• Maintain excellent professional relationships which will lead to secure repeat business.
• To work effectively as part of a team and with other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) throughout Atkins to provide a consistent and integrated service to our clients.
You will also be responsible for working with the rest of the Water Management Consultancy team and Atkins staff in general in advancing our technical capability to the highest standard and growing the business. This will include identifying innovative approaches and techniques and presenting technical papers.
