Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Reno, NV Water Resource Group as a Water Resources Engineer (EIT).


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

The candidate's primary assignment will be to local design projects, flood control design, watershed management, stormwater masterplanning, FEMA map revision studies, as well as water resource related projects outside the area. The ideal applicant will have experience in drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic methods and associated software as well as MicroStation/AutoCAD and highway drainage design. GIS experience associated with water resources is preferable.


JOB DUTIES

Performs urban drainage engineering design and drafting.

Performs hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis.

Prepares cost estimates.

Performs preliminary drafting of construction plans.

Contributes to technical report writing and data/analysis summary exhibits.

Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.

May perform other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

 



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Civil Engineering. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a focus in Water Resources); no experience required with a Master's degree.


SPECIAL SKILLS

Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.

Microstation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, FlowMaster, WSPG, StormCAD, XPSWMM, InfoSWMM, SewerGEMS are preferred.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT desired.

Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to plan, prioritize and review project plans and documents, evaluate alternatives, and devise appropriate solutions.
