Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Phoenix Arizona Water Resource Group as an Engineer I. 


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:

Under supervision, performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency. On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems. On assignments involving construction activities, works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.


JOB DUTIES:

Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment, to carry out diversified engineering projects or phases of a single project with relatively few complex features and requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.

• As a Water Resources Engineer, you will develop and complete new hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses.

• Tasks will involve the use of various H&H engineering software as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

• You will develop and complete engineering databases, reports, and work maps under the supervision and direction of a registered professional engineer.

• In addition to the tasks listed above, you will also complete and/or assist senior engineers with other various engineering projects related to water resources and civil engineering.

• These projects may include, but are not limited to, storm water planning and design, watershed master plans, and transportation drainage plan.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


B.S. in Civil Engineering. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree.


SPECIAL SKILLS:


Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.


Experience and/or familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, SWMM is preferred.




PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:


E.I. or EIT desired.
