Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Henderson, NV Water Resources Group as a Water Resources Engineering College Intern.

The ideal candidate will be a college student who is currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus in Water Resources preferably) who is available to work part time during the school year (approximately 15 hours/week).

As a Water Resources Engineering Intern, they will perform a variety of routine technical tasks to assist engineers, specialists, and GIS analysts working in our water resources group with various projects. These projects may include, but are not limited to, flood modeling and mapping, storm water planning and design, watershed master plans, and transportation drainage plans.


JOB DUTIES

Gathers, logs and summarizes field notes or other data to be used by technicians or professionals in technical studies or projects.

Establishes and maintains records or files of technical data or documents.

Performs mathematical calculations.

Performs various routine drafting and CAD assignments.

Assists in the preparation of graphic displays and presentation materials.

Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Pursuing a Bachelor’s Civil Engineering degree with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering (or related Civil Engineering) from an accredited college/university.

Preferred:

Students within their Junior or Senior year.
Outstanding academic credentials.
Community and campus activity with leadership roles.
Membership in student chapters of industry specific organizations (i.e. ASCE, EES, AEE).


SPECIAL SKILLS

Math skills and drafting/CAD ability are generally required.

Computer skills required to enter data in spreadsheets or databases. Ability to operate computer keyboard.

GIS experience preferred.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

None.
