Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind - Human Factors Industrial Year Placement (2019)

Within the oil and gas division, our operations focus on fixed and floating offshore structures, terminals, refineries, petrochemical plants and subsea pipelines. Having worked on thousands of oil and gas installations around the world, you’ll join a team of over 20,000 experts located in North America, Australia, the Middle East, Europe and the UK. We work across the life cycle of the oil and gas industry, finding innovative solutions to complex challenges through the increased use of digital and immersive technologies, and have worked on over 700 projects in the last five years all around the world. We have provided unrivalled technical expertise and support to the oil and gas industry for more than four decades. What you’ll be doing
We have opportunities for undergraduates from an Ergonomics, Human Factors or Psychology degree background to join our Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind human factors team in London.

As a Human Factors placement student, you’ll be part of a client focused team, and will work on a wide variety of projects across a range of sectors of industry including Oil & Gas and Offshore Structures, Transportation and Infrastructure. Some examples of local projects you could be working on are The Legacy Cylinder Facility project for Capenhurst Nuclear Services or one of many significant railway upgrade and re-control projects across the country such as Crossrail. You’ll also have an interest in the design and development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI); task analysis; cognition and workload; human performance and human error; system ergonomics; as well as workstation and Control Room Design.

Who we’re looking for
You’ll:
• be a talented undergraduate on track to achieve a minimum 2.1 Bachelors/BEng degree in a relevant degree discipline
• have ambition, vision, enthusiasm and the drive to keep on developing your technical skills
• possess a passion for working in a consultancy environment, you’ll want to work with clients and with teams who deliver for their clients
• be adaptable and happy to cope with uncertainty
• have excellent communication and team-working skills, as well as the ability to apply your technical knowledge to analyse problems and create innovative solutions
