Future Energies graduate
Why did you choose to join Atkins?
During my degree, I developed an interest in the Energy industry and started to look at the best engineering companies to gain experience with – eventually joining Atkins as a Power Academy Scholar.
After three placements across Power Networks, Oil & Gas and Power Generation I discovered a company that was at the forefront of developing innovative energy solutions for clients. More than that, I discovered great people, a company where the staff are placed first with the chance to get involved in some fantastic projects. When it came to my final year, Atkins was my first and only choice.
What does future energies do?
This part of Atkins drives solutions that deliver cleaner, safer, sustainable energy to industrial users and residential customers across the globe. Whether this be development of tidal barrage schemes in the UK or leading the way in floating offshore wind, the team I’m in is determined to lead the way in creating sustainable Future Energies.
What advice would you offer to future applicants?
Regardless of what company you are applying to: know the organisation. Research the division you’re applying for, understand what they do and what projects they’re involved in. Atkins look for transferable skills and someone willing to take ownership of their own personal development (with progression towards professional registration/chartership being part of that).
Other than that, take your time with the application, practice online testing and don’t get nervous about the Assessment Centre. Any questions? You can reach me through Linkedin below:
