Graduate Systems Engineer
What have been your key achievements since joining Atkins?
Having joined Atkins in September 2015 I have been involved in a few different projects with some major clients in ADS&T. My biggest achievements so far have been when I have been working on a client’s site. Being embedded on the client’s site is really beneficial to gain a full understanding of the project. I developed a substantial schedule spanning over 1000 lines which assisted the project in monitoring their progress against the baseline dates. My key achievement has been running a meeting with the Design Authority where I explained my work on system interactions. After initial direction from my manager, I developed this task and I was really proud of the very positive feedback I received from the Design Authority.
What attracted you to Atkins?
While at University I gained work experience from a few different engineering companies. Although I found the industries interesting, I realised I wanted more variety in my work. When applying for graduate schemes, I saw that Atkins were within the Times Top 100 graduate employers and, when investigating further, I discovered the variety of work that Atkins are involved in. One of the great things about working in at a consultancy is the range of work and tasks you can get involved in.
What other activities have you been involved with?
I am based in the Bristol office where there are a lot of graduates so there are often events going on during the week and at the weekends from socials to sports. So far I have also been involved with the ADS&T Graduate Forum and the Atkins Women’s Professional Network.
