What’s your role at Atkins?
I’m part of the Early Careers Team, who manage the attraction and selection of all graduates, placement students and apprentices across the UK.  I’m responsible for recruiting placements students into year in industry placements and summer internships, and I’m the main point of contact for placements with Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, ADS&T and Faithful & Gould.

Tell us a little bit about your background.
After graduating with a languages degree, which involved a year abroad in a university exchange scheme, I wasn’t quite sure what direction I wanted to take, so took a little time out to do some temporary work and decided that recruitment seemed to be a big growth area, so started working for a well known agency, which was a great introduction to the world of recruitment.  After experiencing a couple of different sectors as an agency recruiter, I felt the next logical step for me was to move to an internal recruitment role and so took the plunge in 2012.  As an internal recruiter, I’ve predominately been recruiting for head office functions, in retail and financial services, before joining Atkins Early Careers Team in July 2018.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job… it’s hard to say, but the team I work with is definitely up there – everyone of them is so knowledgeable and they’re genuinely nice people to work with, along with the autonomy we have and how I feel like I’m making positive changes in my area.

What makes a good day at work?
A good day at work for me means a happy team, happy stakeholders and offering jobs to enthusiastic candidates who can’t wait to join!
