There may be opportunities to work out of other UK offices or client offices, where the need arises, to meet the demands of fluctuating workloads.

The Role:

This is permanent role for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) Commercial team.

  • The successful candidate would have experience in Commercial and/ or Project management ideally within a consultancy environment delivering professional services.
  • They should understand how to balance risk, opportunity, and financial returns.
  • The successful candidate will report to a Senior Commercial Manager and be responsible for a portfolio of projects/programmes.
  • They will become an integral member of a growing commercial team.
  • As a commercial leader, you’ll be part of the Project Delivery commercial team and work alongside Project Teams and relevant Market Commercial Directors to focus on commercially supporting delivery excellence and in year performance (revenue, cash, and EBIT) as well as supporting growth in the market.
  • The role will be responsible for both pre- and post- contract commercial management.

What you will contribute:

  • Working within our Project Delivery Practice, the key responsibilities of the role are identified as follows:
  • Providing high-quality commercial management skills to ensure the successful delivery of commercial performance within a range of contracts / projects, and to safeguard the interests of AtkinsRéalis throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and deliver the commercial strategy on projects to maximise project revenues and cash flow.
  • Adhering to the Commercial Processes within the AtkinsRéalis Sector Management System (SMS).
  • Supporting projects in change control, claims and disputes management and providing weekly and monthly updates to project leads.
  • Proactively engaging and offering commercial support to project teams including regular visibility across offices and sites, where teams are based.
  • Supporting bid teams where required on strategic bids in negotiations and dialogue with clients and contractors and to ensure contracts are executed in line with AtkinsRéalis requirements.
  • Promoting compliance with the Sector Management System (SMS) Stage Gates Process, and all AtkinsRéalis procedures.
  • Supporting Project Managers in Stage Gates and Approvals in accordance with the Levels of Authority requirements.
  • Supporting the wider market and divisional requirements as they arise.

Essential Criteria:

  • Appropriate Degree and/or member of (or working towards) appropriate professional body (e.g., MRICS, MCInstCES etc).
  • Experience in a quantity surveying role from main contractor or consultancy backgrounds.
  • Experience in contract management and change control.
  • Preparation and review of Earned Value Management.
  • Preparation of the monthly PSR (CVR) and associated commercial reports.
  • Assist Project Managers and Project Directors in reporting of commercial Risk and Opportunity.
  • Familiarity with common Forms of Contract (particularly, experience in managing NEC & NEC PSC).
