We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water Hazard Resilience Program Manager to join our Alexandria, VA. office. Position can also be based out of our Austin, Dallas, Houston, Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Raleigh, or Atlanta offices. May work hybrid work schedule (combination of working in office and remotely).

The selected candidate will reside within the Water Engineering Technical Professional Organization (TPO) and supporting the Water Resources group.
Will collaborate with company leadership and technical professionals to increase AtkinsRealis integrated flood hazard mapping policy and programmatic resources.

This individual must have background and passion for flood hazard reduction programs including policy, technical analysis, program design and measurement frameworks, and program improvement frameworks. Areas of technical focus for this position include but are not limited to flood hazard identification policy development and implementation, operationalization of best practices from flood hazard identification projects and processes in 19 states and territories, identification of cross-program connections and efficiencies, identifying opportunities for value-added client services, and other related areas of focus.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Be a part of the management team for a multi-year Federal contract.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to collaborate with teammates, results-oriented and eager to learn and develop technical capabilities along a progressive career development tract.
  • Develop technical solutions and programmatic improvements related to flood hazard identification programs for Federal clients.
  • Interact with client and project stakeholders, lead and facilitate meetings, deliver presentations and coordinate agenda topic and post meeting action items.
  • Prepare plans, studies, reports, guides, and other technical documents.
  • Research, analyze, and develop effective hazard mitigation policy solutions for federal clients.
  • Apply principles of social equity and environmental justice to technical and strategic work.
  • Provide technical production of project deliverables and operations support.
  • Compile data and the prepare reports.
  • Coordinate operations within organization to ensure consistency with policies and procedures.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s in Geography, Engineering, Planning, Policy Analysis, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or another related field.
  • 15 years of experience in the National Flood Mapping Program, especially aligned with flood hazard mapping contracts.
  • Bachelor’s in Planning, Policy Analysis, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or another related field.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Well-developed time management skills, especially the ability to complete high-quality, detail-oriented deliverables on tight timelines amid competing deadlines within a diverse work group.
  • Effective communication both orally and in written and visual formats to convey technical information related to flood hazard policies and programs in projects, presentations, and papers.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills; outstanding attention to detail.
  • Must have good computer skills and be able to utilize standard office software.
  • Thorough understanding of the NFIP, Risk MAP, CRS, HMTAP and BRIC programs.
  • Knowledge of water/flood and natural hazard analysis and regulatory connections.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in flood hazard analysis, floodplain management, and related focus areas.
  • Prior experience managing flood hazard identification projects or overseeing related programs or accounts.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, and Access.
  • Familiarity with GIS (ArcPro, QGIS, etc.,) is preferred.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager or AICP.

Expected compensation range is between $125,000 - $150,000 annually OR $60.00 - $72.00 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
