The Atkins Construction Management Group is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Henderson, NV office as a Construction Field Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, applies technical professional proficiency to the investigation of engineering problems, the coordination of project activities, and the preparation of preliminary plans and documents.
On design assignments, progresses toward learning how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications.
On engineering and planning assignments, continues to develop a knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems.
On construction assignments, continues to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering plans and specifications into the constructed product.
Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

JOB DUTIES

Performs work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment, to carry out diversified engineering projects or phases of a single project with relatively few complex features and requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning.
Analyzes construction project requirements in terms of personnel required for observation of construction progress and for testing and sampling of materials.
Schedules and oversees the work of internal staff assigned to observation and testing activities.
Assists in reviewing contractors’ material submittals for conformance with contract documents.
Conducts jobsite inspections for compliance with approved project-specific plans, such as contractors’ stormwater management plans and traffic control plans.
Coordinates with public agencies and local utilities involved in oversight of construction projects.
Observes construction progress in the field and writes reports to record observations and summarize test results.
Monitors contractors' progress against established schedule.
Reviews payment requests and submits them to more senior personnel for authorization.
Recommends solutions to field construction problems, acting as intermediary between contractor and internal staff.
Assists in development of technical scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for proposed changes to construction contracts.
Performs other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or related field applicable to pursuit of registration as Professional Engineer.
Minimum of five years’ experience working in the field on construction projects is required.
Eligible experience includes positions such as construction field engineer, project engineer, and office engineer.
Minimum of three years’ experience working on infrastructure projects for public agencies or utility service providers is required.
Work experience in southern Nevada and familiarity with local construction standards are highly desirable.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
CAD skills preferred.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT is required.
